We finally have specific details about some of the shows, movies, and documentaries that Barack and Michelle Obama have been working on in collaboration with Netflix since their partnership with the streaming company was announced last May. The couple will provide content through a new company called Higher Ground Productions, Netflix said in a statement. The New York Times first reported in March that the Obamas were in advanced negotiations with Netflix to produce a series of shows. The value of Obama`s Netflix deal, which will have them produce through their new company Higher Ground Productions, is unknown. In March, penguin Random House signed the couple to a joint book deal that pays them $65 million for their respective memoirs. Former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama easily become open about their Netflix deal. On Wednesday, the documentary American Factory – the duo`s first title under their Higher Ground production banner – will debut on the streamer. To celebrate, Netflix released a short (and carefully maintained) clip of a conversation the Obamas had with Oscar-nominated American Factory filmmakers Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar, in which the presidential couple talked a bit about why they chose to follow the production path after leaving the White House. L.A.-based Higher Ground has resupplyed its six employees and hired Chernin Entertainment`s Tonia Davis, who will co-lead with Swaminathan (sources indicate the Obamas also followed Amazon`s Julie Rapaport and Netflix`s Tendo Nagenda for the best jobs). Other early projects include an adaptation of David W`s features. Blights Bestseller Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom; Bloom, a drama series by Callie Khouri after World War II the overlooked anthology series, based on the new York Times` current obituary column; the Listen to Your Vegetables & Eat Your Parents children`s food series; and a series of documentaries based on Michael Lewis` The Fifth Risk: Undoing Democracy, which targets the Trump administration — perhaps the only probably partisan offer of alignment. Netflix tweeted Monday that the Obamas “have reached a multi-year agreement on the production of movies and series for Netflix, including possibly skripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries and features.” “We want people to be able to come out on their own and live each other`s life and understand what a good story does,” Barack added.
